Urban Currents

I am thrilled to announce my first solo show in Edinburgh this coming autumn and winter. Urban Currents is a new exhibition of original paintings and drawings of Edinburgh and Glasgow’s urban landscapes – water, trees, buildings and bridges.

The exhibition collects more than 25 recent artworks in watercolour, oil, pen and ink and mixed-media, all made in the past four years. Locations include Edinburgh’s Water of Leith, Dean Village, Regent Bridge, Circus Lane, Newhaven Harbour, and Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park and the Rivers Clyde and Kelvin.

The artworks in Urban Currents spotlight, in different ways, my attraction to urban architecture and how it interacts with the natural environment. My art grows from intricate observation and I love to capture the play of light on moving water and architectural detail, the twisting forms and foliage of trees and plants.

Urban Currents opens Sunday 17 November 2024 and runs until Friday 28 February 2025 at The Oxford Bar, 8 Young Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4JB. If you would like to attend the Private Viewing on Sunday 17 November (4-7pm), you can contact me through the website.

All artworks in Urban Currents and other works produced over multiple decades are available for sale and pre-sale below. I also welcome commissions. For those inclined, you can follow me on Facebook and Instagram at @stevemegsonart
